Yes, I know it says Debian and it is a bit confusing the way it is
worded, but you need to choose the cancel option to NOT install in UEFI
mode and fall back to bios mode.

Yep, I ended up using the "use entire disk" option.
But the "install over ubuntu 16.04" option shouldn't really be
available, since there's no way it can result in a booting system in
this case.
(The warning message also said "Debian" rather than "Ubuntu")
