apparently, this is caused because I only have "shout" outputs If I
add the following output and activate it, the problem disappears:
audio_output {
type "ao"
driver "null"
name "Dummy output"
}
as found in their bugtracker: http://www.musicpd.org/mantis/view.php?id=1
