Hello, dpkg tracks modifications that you make to configuration files. It's complicated. But the end result is that you can get these files back by simply purging the packages and then installing them again: apt-get purge openjdk-8-jre-headless openjdk-8-jdk apt-get install openjdk-8-jre-headles
