Thanks for your valuable hint and really fast answer.
So the manual deletion of the properties files was the cause of the trouble.
After doing the purge, my system is OK again.
The bug can be marked as invalid, sorry for making such noise.

dpkg tracks modifications that you make to configuration files. It's
complicated.
But the end result is that you can get these files back by simply
purging the packages and then installing them again:
apt-get purge openjdk-8-jre-headless openjdk-8-jdk
apt-get install openjdk-8-jre-headles
