jtse, since lsusb is completely hung at the same time, this is not a bug
with bluez, but a bug with the kernel's handling of your USB device.

I should also add that the USB card reader has never worked in Ubuntu.
It works fine in Windows and Mac OS X.

unplugging my USB multi-card flash reader. Interestingly, I tried the
command `lsusb` which did not return me back to the prompt until I
unplug the USB multi-card
