As a workaround, you might be interested in the snes9x-gtk package,
which includes OpenGL and XVideo drivers.

Confirming this. It complains about access denied to /dev/mem or
something, and even running as root it doesn't work.

Would have been nice if someone looked at this. WAY too many
untouched/unfinished bugs here. Anyway, any word on whether this was
fixed for Hardy or not? I haven't had a chance to test yet.
