I've definitively seen this bug with the Gutsy LiveCD too. It is now
fixed in the latest hardy alpha release CD for me, can you confirm that
this bug is fixed for you too with the latest hardy alpha LiveCD? Thanks

As of Gutsy this only seems to happen on the LiveCD, once installed
there doesn't seem to be any corruption and a resolution shows up in the
usplash.conf, its not 1920x1200 but I think thats a VESA flaw.
It could still be somewhat disconcerting to people trying Ubuntu for the
first time.
