** Description changed:
Using a Gnome icon theme other than the default for Ubuntu causes
OpenOffice to have no icons in the menus or on the toolbars. Toolbars
actually have the tooltip text as the button's text (example: Export to
PDF, Print File Directly, Spellcheck, etc).

bsh,
Note: 7.04 is very old and is still subject to this bug, we are not
planning on fixing this bug on 7.04 since it is not security related. It
has already been fixed in 8.04 however.
Yes, this is intended to save space. For gtk we are installing human,
for kde crystal, the others fall back to
I am having this too on XFCE and Ubuntu 7.04.
there are no icons in OOo.
Problem is, the different icon themes (human, crystal, industrial, etc.) are
not being installed by default. Had to install them manually from synaptic.

The part I was stating was fixed is that it properly falls back to one
of those three openoffice.org styles. Not that dark themes no longer
cause OpenOffice.org to enter the hi-contrast accessibility mode. That
bug still exists.

Even more detail..
Follow these steps to reproduce bug.
Customize lets say the standard human theme.
Go to the colours tab - and select the window background colour.
Now in the RGB values - bring all the 3 values to 39. Click ok. Now look
at the openoffice window (if running in the background). St
Actually.. Sorry there is a correction to what i just posted.
The icons in openoffice changes as soon as you change the window's background
colour (in customizing a theme).
As soon as you get it too close to black. It changes from the human icons to
nothing -else it changes to the default icons i
Chris.. You did not understand what i said.
The bug has to do with the themes. AGREEE
But if you go ahead and try customizing a theme. This is what will happen.
Under theme customization, if you select some icon package - lets say tango, or
hi contrast this will not affect the icons used by o

OpenOffice should now fall back to following:
Gnome: openoffice.org-style-human
KDE: openoffice.org-style-crystal
And those styles are installed by default when installing the system.
Unless your theme is causes hi-contrast mode to be enabled:

Well that does bring in the icons back again. But it is an incorrect
fix. This is what i noticed. The icon pack which Open Office selects is
not based on the icon pack used by the system. Instead its based on the
control (under customizing a theme). So for example, even if you have
the human icons
I've had the same problem using the blended crystal icon theme and there was no
synaptic update fixing this problem for me.
Now that I have installed
"openoffice.org-style-default"
which automatically installs:
"openoffice.org-style-andromeda"
the problem is fixed though.

I have since reinstalled Ubuntu and are running a different theme now.
However, I did scroll through some different icon packs to see if I
could reproduce the problem and was unable to. So either this is fixed,
or the icon theme I was using had problems. Being the one that opened
the bug, I'd say i
Do someone still experiencing this?
It appears to be the same as Bug #106186, that has been fixed a while ago.
Tell me so I can close it.
