Both JDK 5 and JDK 6 can be installed. When IDE is configured to use JDK
5 it will not switch automatically to JDK 6 when JDK 6 is installed.
This must be changed manually in netbeans.conf or overriden by command
line option --jdkhome. Upgrade to Gutsy just caused JDK 5 bug with new
Window Manager
This is a problem when upgrading to Gutsy. Updating java to 6 is not enough,
Netbeans can't find the jdk.
I tried to reinstall java and Netbeans, it didn't help. I had to modify
/etc/netbeans5.5/netbeans.conf manually.

When NetBeans package is installed its postinstall looks for JDK but it
can select only one if both JDK 5 and 6 are installed. Then it modifies
config file /etc/netbeans5.5/netbeans.conf.

It's running on java 1.5.0_13. I've got compiz(desktop effects) running.
Running Netbeans with JDK 6.03 fixed the problem.
Only downfall, Netbeans doesn't find that jdk, have to use the --jdkhome option.

What JDK do you use to run NetBeans? (Go to
$HOME/.netbeans/5.5.1/var/log, there is message.log, if it is big send
it directly to me or attach it here.) I checked with Sun JDK 6u2 and
5.0u13 and it works fine. There is one issue with compiz/beryl - it
should be fixed in JDK 6u3 (due to reparenting
