Samba is linked to the CUPS library and so asks the CUPS daemon directly via IPP which printers are there. So changing ownerships/permissions of CUPS' config files will not make Samba sharing the same printers as CUPS. Samba would need to be modified to ask CUPS for its ACLs (as configured in cupsd

Tim, CUPS browsing packets are CUPS-specific and only made use of by CUPS. Windows does not understand/use them. Windows finds printers via SMB by default. The printer sharing settings in system-config-printer only handle the sharing between CUPS servers, they do not modify the Samba configuration. Sharing to Windows boxes is usually done via Samba. So check your Samba configuration. Tim, what about adding some text to the dialog that the check boxes
