I'm closing this report. Please reopen it if you still have this issue
with latest Ubuntu release. To reopen the bug report you can click on
the current status, under the Status column, and change the Status back
to "New". Thanks

Type "sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.1"
eth0 is your network device. If you want to change your WiFI ip
sometimes it's eth1
Try this and report back if you still need to restart your system. :)
