Rhythmbox crashes when a podcast is finished downloading. When I reopen the
client, it restarts the download from the beginning.

I had the same problem as D S on Ubuntu Gutsy 64 bit. What I did is I
completely removed Rhythmbox, manually removed rhythmbox folder in my home
folder, then installed it with recommended package python-louie (which wasn't

I have exactly the same problem, and since upgrading to Feisty - Gutrsy
beta - Gutsy :
When I update the podcasts feeds, Rhythmbox downloads them well, but
during it or at the end, it freezes completely, its screen becomes
totally white, and I have to close it, then restart Rhythmbox manua
After a complete reinstall using an ubuntustudio ISO, this bug has
disapppeared for me, though it's the same package as was installed on my
previous Gutsy install (trbe 5 iso updated) and doesn't seem to depend
on external podcast library from a quick look at package description.

For me it's simply a matter of start rhythmbox, click the update all
feeds button, wait for a podcast to download and then rhythmbox will
freeze. I haven't done enough testing of the autmatic updating to know
whether it fails in the same way, it's worked once successfully.

Could you describe easy steps to trigger it from a new install or a
desktop CD?

It never gets as far as apport. The GUI hangs and never recovers (that's
what happened with the second backtrace) rather than segving.
As it happens when a podcast has finished downloading but before
rhythmdb.xml is updated, it might make sense that it's some thread
related write locking problem o
Could you let apport send a crash bug so it can be retraced
automatically or get a debug backtrace?
