Dear Mr. Vogt,
I cannot notice any breaking in my system whatsoever.
It seems to have been fixed or perhaps it does not bother the system.
upon running:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
I receive no output (in term).
I apologise for the delay in my reply and thank you for your concern.
pls let me know if
auctex (11.83-7ubuntu1) gutsy; urgency=low
* add missing depends on texlive-base-bin so that the postrm
does not fail on missing mktexlsr (LP: #148469)

This should be fixed with the next auctex upload, please run:
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
on your system again and let me know if that fixes the issue for you
Thanks,
Michael

This is what causes the problem, looks like a undeclared dependency:
Preparing to replace preview-latex-style 11.83-4 (using
.../preview-latex-style_11.83-6ubuntu2_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement preview-latex-style ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/preview-latex-style.postrm: line 29: mktexlsr: command
Thanks for your bugreport.
This is a error in the preview-latex-style package, I reassign. I hope
the system is otherwise fully usable? (beside the tex releated issues)?
