I can't tell, I use Ubuntu know, with gnome, it works fine.
I think it is (was?) a kde bug, because as soon as I installed gnome, it
worked.

Kubuntu 7.10 upgraded from 7.04
This bug happened after the upgrade.
Note: using compiz-fusion (don't think there is any conflict here)

Now it's always 0% or 11%, I can't have any other value.
With another laptop, with the same kubuntu, the volume works correctly
with keyboard.
What kind of information do you need to see from where the problem come?
