This is the section of menu.lst I boot from. There is no vga= option

Wolf, could you try removing the vga= option from the kernel options in
/boot/grub/menu.1st and leaving usplash on, this could replicate the bahavior
experienced elsewhere.
Brian - yeah, I didn't want to makr it perm yet until I had a bit more info; I
thought I put the above text in there alread
David - If you feel that this is a duplicate of another bug you could
mark this as such using the "Mark as duplicate" action in the left hand
menu. However, I'm not convinced that it is as that bug report mentions
removing a "vga=" option from the kernel boot parameter.
