The recent change was to disable sync to vblank by default. :) I figured
that was the issue. I'm marking this bug as fixed, reopen if you still
get the problem.

I do not want to do that just yet as 2 times now I have seen a Screensaver
and have been able to instantly wake from it. I believe a recent update
made a change which seems to fix this.
If not, I will try as you say.

PS. If you want for me to do it as a test for you then I can do
Try disabling sync to vblank. Install compizconfig-settings-manager, go
to System->Preferences->Advanced Desktop Effects, go to General Options,
Display Settings tab, and uncheck the option there.
