I need to make a correction. When I disabled lightspark it also disabled
gnash so the video I was play was actually html5. I uninstalled
lightspark and I noticed that gnash was running but no video was
playing. It would simply freeze upon play.

Actually I discovered that having lightspark installed caused gnash to
break. by disabling lightspark I was able to use gnash.
