This particular desktop PC refuses to shut down (or to restart). Not
even Alt+SysReq + etc works. Once, on restart after crashing out by
holding down the Power button, it invited me to submit a whole host of
bug reports that appeared to be linked to the failure to shut down - so
I submitted them!
I don't see how this related to GCC
