Ed Guenter, just to advise, installing a 3.18 kernel in 14.04 is not
supported.
However, if this is reproducible in a supported release (ex. live or installed
environment of Vivid), it will help immensely if you filed a new report via a
terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

I am seeing this error message too - but only since I decided to
manually install the vivid 3.18 kernel on my 14.04.
