there is no way to have tracker follow symlink if they are specifically among
the recursively indexed locations? most of my home is built on symlinks - with
some apps they are so insanely useful, and then some apps just ignore them
leaving people who take advantage of them in the cold.

Seriously, this is by design. If tracker would follow symlinks, it could
end up in a loop.
