Perhaps some old settings remained from an old beryl installation, enabling the
decorations worked. Such a function should never be an option, but should
always be enabled ;)

If you install and run compizconfig-settings-manager do you have the
decoration plugin enabled? Did you enable cube on your own? We don't
have it by default.
