Kubuntu Intrepid daily live cd mounted my hard drive partitions
correctly. It seems that KDE4 does not suffer from this bug. I am
marking this as Fix Released, because it is fixed in Intrepid.

Bugs,
I solved my problem : having installed ubuntu from an usb key, there was
a CD-ROM entry /dev/sdb1 in my fstab, which is the usual reference of
any external device I might plug.

I have the same kind of problem. I have recently upgraded to kubuntu
Gutsy beta and automount sometimes fails depending on the device. This
is a huge regression as far as i'm concerned, as it worked flawlessly in
feisty.
I can also mount the partition manually as Pedalli said.

know if that is not correct. Since Ubuntu does not use Dolphin and
Kubuntu does this might be why the problem doesn't exist in Ubuntu?

I mounted the partition manually using 'sudo mkdir drive', 'sudo mount
/dev/sda1 drive', then I could access it's content.
The Ubuntu live CD does not have the same problem, I could access my data in
Nautilus by a click.
