right, it doesn't list them by default now. Adding a log doesn't work
and the error message does say it's because to permissions but that's
another issue. Closing that one

Actually on Edgy, I can't reproduce this. I created a new user, logged
in, opened gnome-system-log. I didn't belong to the 'adm' group but I
got no error messages. However, only /var/log/cups/cups_error and
/var/log/Xorg.0.log were visible.

Sebastien: I read the original bug report and since the file opened file
here I thought that the unfriendly error is no longer an issue since it
doesn't appear. I misunderstood it though. Thanks for stopping me :-)

I took a look at it now - it can be used to view several logfiles. So
unless I have understood James' comment, this can be closed.
