No PPA necessary. 1.0 works well enough for my current hardware, I'm
willing to either compile from source or wait for Utopic when I get a
new remote.

Thanks for reporting! As best as I can tell, this probably doesn't meet the
requirements for a SRU (ie, they generally don't upgrade to new versions of
packages after a release has been made):
