I can accept that it's a lot of work/impossible to show a window
preview, but can't we at least make the icons higher resolution? Right
now, it's horribly pixelated and looks like a .gif from the 1990s.
Coupled with shrinking the icon a bit, this would make it look a lot
nicer.

It did something really hacky. Basically when you minimized a window the
core would store a thumbnail of what the window looked like before it
minimized. It was not live.
