is this an integrated card, or an external pci, if it's pci, are you
absolutely sure that is firmly attached to the motherboard?.
if you use the gutsy, feisty or another livecd does the same happens?, i
mean is just randomly detected or is/not detected at all times.

This seems to be related to bug #86798, could you please confirm, following the
steps suggested there. i'm not quite sure because from your dmesg log seems to
be that the isn't even detected by the kernel.
Could you please also attach the output of the lspci and lsmod when you
