As of intrepid the qc-usb driver does not seem to work anymore, but there is a
patch in this bugreport:

I've also written a short instruction how to compile the qc-usb driver with
this patch without having to compile the whole kernel:

My (046d:0850) QuickCam Web still does not work with Intrepid Beta Live-
CD (amd64).
Looking at the list (http://lwn.net/Articles/291036/) of webcams that
were included in the 2.6.27 kernel, 046d:0850 was not included.
Does anyone know someone we can contact to point out this missing
driver?

upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
