Same problem with 2 different PC (1 x386 and 1 amd64) kernel
2.6.22-10-generic. The network configured with dhcp don't start at boot,
I use the nm-applet to disable network and enable it after that.

If i put a static ip on both pc now on one pc i get a fail starting hal
services.
To make networking up i must run a a /etc/init.d/hal start
In attach the daemon.log of the involved pc.
