The goal is to improve the look and more specifically, improve
integration by using the same icons across different apps. Andreas' icon
follows the Tango guidelines, which are being increasingly used
throughout the desktop, so I think it would be the logical icon to use.

Is the goal here to improve the look of liferea, or to improve the quasi
freedom? Because I think the use of the icon here is acceptably free,
and the screenshot appears to have an inappropriate background on the
icon.

The current icon is from http://feedicons.com/ which looks nice too, and
looks pretty similar.
I don't feel like changing it downstream. I've reported it upstream, and
they won't change it...
