Usually this is an encoding issue when mounting the CD-ROM. Could you

I have found that the Thai characters come up on my desktop but not on
my laptop.
This must be related to my laptops DVD player, but as I have already
shown the Thai characters in the file names show up on this DVD player
in windows xp using VMware.
This means that my laptop's DVD player on Ubunt
