the notification comes up, but nothing happens

first works in karmic, but after moving my hardware in a new case it
doesn't work anymore. i've changed nothing in the config, just only move
all components from one case to the other.

I have an Apple Macbook 2,1 and I confirm that the solution presented by
Martin Filip works perfectly! To download his FDI file, right click on
the link above and choose Save Link As... clicking on it directly will
not work.

just place my fdi into your /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ and restart hald daemon ;)

After some more diagnostics I've found, that this bug is related to
evdev driver. Eject key on my Macbook triggers events on
/dev/input/event6 which has (according to lshal) capabilities set to
info.capabilities = { 'input', 'button' } (string list)
My evdev driver does not grab this device as key
I can confirm this even on Gentoo Linux. Key even does not send anything
to /dev/input/eventX. I've traced this problem down to upgrade of xorg
from 1.3 to 1.5 (which seems totally strange to me)

I have the same issue, the eject key is not working anymore, but it was
working in hardy and without pommed, assigning it to linux.

I can confirm that it works with pommed.
But I think, one shouldn't *have* to install that to get it to work.
especially when it worked before without extra software...

Installing pommed solved this problem.
xev does not see the eject key event even though an eject it is performed.
This is on a macbook 2,1 C2D on ubuntu 8.10 intrepid ibex with
2.6.27-7-generic x86_64 and pommed 1.21~dfsg-2ubuntu1

I can confirm it worked on Hardy and isn't working in Intrepid, and that
xev gives nothing.

I can confirm that: It worked perfectly fine in Hardy, now on Intrepid
it's broken. In my case, xev doesn't give me anything... doesn't seem to
even recognize there is a key...
By the way: I don't think this should be assigned to pommed, as I'm not using
