Opening `alsamixer` in terminal and increasing the master volumne output
fixes this. But still the volume should be controlled from the GUI.

Title
Hi Raymond,
0x57 seems to be the maximum. Can I use apport-collect on the old system (I
have a working backup) to update this bug?

amp out values seem not at maximum 0x57
try hda-analyzer to increase
you may need to file an upstream bug report by provide alsa-info output
if it work when using 12.04 live cd
