/var/log/apport.log? I suspect it says "aborting core dump write,
exceeds available memory" or something such".

Haven't looked into this in detail (I'm still in firefighting mode), but
the main reason for this is usually that the core dump exceeded 3/4 of
the memory size and thus is considered too big for analysis.

This did not happen when causing /usr/bin/system-settings to crash which
produced a 2.8M size crash file.

Title:
webbrowser crash files destroye
I tried this using webbrowser-app on my amd64 desktop and the same
problem did not occur, the crash file size did not shrink and continued
to contain the Coredump.
