following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu kernel (not a
mainline one) via:

I also receive this issue.
It was booting fine on Ubuntu 14.10 and I did a dist-upgrade. Following the
dist-upgrade, Ubuntu would fail to boot. When entering recovery mode, I found
the boot froze on the exact same lines as in the OP.
I have a core i5-520m and a Radeon 5650M.
I tested kernel 3.1
Marius, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (the one all
the way at the top, and not the daily folder) following

upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
