This bug affects me as well. I ran the disk check from my Ubuntu install
USB. Disk check completed without any error. I am installing 14.04 on my
laptop which has UEFI and Windows 8.

I thought so as well. So I installed the iso file to USB and ran the setup
from my USB device. But it stops at the same point, when copying that file.
