Recently, there have been some library updates which also included
"xserver-xorg-core"
I have been observing my machine since, and the problem of fans running
constantly has vanished, atleast for now.

This improvement is just by moving from 14.04 to 14.10.
I just cat'ed my grub config and I do not have radeom.dpm stated there
anymore. It should be active by default anyway.
