after restart i have no sound, no tray sound icon. Below history what I'm done:

Yup, got that too. It's fixed in systemd 204-5ubuntu17.

and as sound was working well a few hours back (< 24 h) and nothing
about "sound" have changed while upgrading, some people are thinking
about a possible "systemd" packages upgrade having broken the soun

When loading pulseaudio from a terminal, i get:
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: pa_pid_file_create() failed.
(but it might be due to the missed real sound hardware (#2))

Same issue on my i386 system:
- the sound icon is active
- get no sound
- the "dummy" hardware is selected inside the "sound" System Settings. And
there is no other hardware choice. So that is the main problem to resolve.
