After adding cgmanager, qt4-default, and qdbus-qt5, all is back to
normal with wifi. I am also once again able to mount my phone with
Dolphin, and my soundcard is again correctly detected.

since I was also unable to mount any external drives (ntfs or otherwise)
or restart/shutdown the pc.

Same issue here. I'm on an Asus VivoPC with rtl8821ae wireless card
which has just been included in the 14.04 kernel.
Network manager shows wireless as disabled, no connections available, can't
enable it.
It also shows that it's not connected to anything, even if my wired connection
seems to be
dito, same here. worked fine with beta2, was broken after yesterdays
update.

after today's Trusty updates/restart, NM will not connect to
