I've installed Gutsy and the performance is better. I got a better fps
in glxgears and the new driver seems to work well.

Could you please recheck it with latest Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 or the
Live CD? If you upgrade please make sure that the -intel driver is used
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf instead of -i810.

after uninstalling the xserver-xgl package everything works fine for
me...

You say you are using xserver-xorg-i810 ... do you have Driver "i810" in
your /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?
