I have recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. It worked wonderfully at
first, but then it started to be extremely slow to open and close new
windows. The system monitor showed that the processor ran at around 100%
although I was nothing special. The "Compiz" process took up around 40%
of the processo

I don't have vmware softare intalled and this is not a virtual machine.
