I also miss the feature to right click on folder to open as root... I used this a lot. And I've always used PCManFM with MATE deskop. I think it was very noticeable that you were in root mode because of the colorful warning message and the different color window... I don't know how you could mak

As the original reporter of this bug after seeing the change on the wiki I have accepted this bugs state as invalid as I truly did not know about that change and yet keep getting more comments that do not read the wiki link in this bug report that mark it as invalid. I even went so far as to file a

That is very depressing nobody was so mature to read specifications and find an error in the script on Wiki page. Only problem with it is: it should contain %f instead of %s. Fix your action file and you'll get your option back. I'm sorry to offend you but people who are over 21 years of age usuall

Yes, I would prefer to have "Open Folder as Root" available (maybe as a configurable option). Yes, I'm over 21 years of age. Yes, I'm prepared to take responsibility for my actions. The suggested "Run as root" workaround on LXDE wiki is not working for me. I get "/home/steve/file: no such file or

I agree with Pierre, loosing functionalities upgrading to a new version is always a shame. For sure it's a great justification for people who wants to keep their Lucid Lynks around. At least checkbox to enable it inside the "advanced options". -- You received this bug notification because yo

As an aside, I can also now open drives on my local network without having to enter a root password... I was rather attached to that feature as well... It kept my family out of drives that I didn't want f_ck_ed with... I'm going to go back to 13.10 until someone can correct this stuff... Sad -

Yeah I agree, removing "Open folder as root" is not in the best interests of the users... If you don't know the root password you can't use it and if you do know the root password it is a quick (and painless) shortcut to making changes... Please bring this feature back... Work smarter not harder

And I do agree, too. It's not a bug, but imho it's a regression. I did love pcmanfm just for these two features, to the open folder as root and open a terminal in the folder you're in, simply from the tools menu. One of these features is gone. Please bring it back. Thanks Georg -- You received

I agree with Pierre. Open folder as root is incredibley useful. I do not really see this as a serious security issue either, since you do have to supply the root password, so you should know what you are doing. If safety is an issue then maybe add a warning that this means anything can be done fr

I have to agree with ianorlin. It is not a bug as LStranger says, but it was really useful and is missing if you think in terms of usability. It is not obvious enough that people will use it by mistake. I have found myself promoting Linux to a number of people only to find myself apologizing to t

Running pcmanfm as root means all the applications will be ran under root which is not safe you know (well, if you want to risk your system and walk on the blade then I can see the reason) and I never saw any reason to run editor/browser/wine/etc. under root (and you want exactly this, don't you?)
