I've stopped doing SETI@home for a while, but now have restarted and the
problem has disappeared. I'm currently on Ubuntu 14.10 running native
version of BOINC. But i'm planning to downgrade to XUbuntu 14.04 LTS in
a little bit, i'll tell you what happens then.

Did anything come of this? I see you have changed projects but nobody
else has reported anything of this sort which suggests it must be
specific to your system.

Same thing is happening. Just now 3 hour long job has completed in 2
minutes, it just jumped to 100%. And a 7 hour job is "complete" in 6
minutes 27 seconds.
