As for nom, the problem is solved for me. I reinstalled nautilus without
any help. but installing nemo somehow fixed the installation of
nautilus. I do not know why or if, but it seems fixed for now.

Your screen goes black? In my case it just closes nautilus about a
second after it is opened. And in some cases sents a bug-report to
canoncial afterwards.

Same problem here ... only wanted to archive some music files. Since today's
update nautilus crashed about 25 times
Also using Ubuntu 13.10 with nautilus 3.8.2
