Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: aptitude
I had tetex installed, and wanted to replace it with texlive. So I fired
up aptitude and selected texlive. It shows 2 broken packages, namely
dvidvi (which depends on tetex-bin) and prosper (which depends on tetex-
extra).

Now I turn off the option "Automatically fix broken packages before
installing or removing", and press g. Up pops a dialogue box saying "No
packages are broken", disagreeing with the status line and the fact that
two packages are highlighted in red. Selecting "Apply" or "Close", it
goes to the install summary screen which still shows the two broken
packages.

Turning off "Install Recommended packages automatically" solves the
problem, although you have to select texlive twice because at first it
neglects to install texlive-latex-base (a glitch related to bug 125296),
at the cost of not automatically installing the recommended packages
dvipdfmx or feynmf, and not even listing the recommended packages
dvi2tty, dviutils and lacheck. This is the same as what apt-get does.

** Affects: aptitude (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
