Please re-open this bug. I also have this problem on Gutsy. It occurs each time I restart the computer and start X. If I re-start the X server without restarting the computer, I am then able to access xfce4-mixer-plugin. The following is added to my .xsession-errors file regarding the bug: Gdk-E
