Ok, now it doesn't crash when the sound card is unreachable, but the
error message is of no help.
"Problem occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or
GStreamer"
I'm using hardy now, and can't test it on feisty any more.
At least it doesn't crash.
