I am experiencing the same problem. When you maximize a gnome-terminal, you are
not able to resize it, minimize it or close it by the buttons in the top right
corner when using Compiz.
When you try to either press one of the window buttons of the top right corner
or double click on the title bar

To be more specific. 'I can then no longer minimize it' means I cannot
switch back to individual window size (middle window control button on
default install).
On this machine I got an: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated
