Is there a way to do that on a live USB stick ?
I was running saucy from such media.
For what it's worth, there is a workaround the issue: add vmalloc=160M
to the linux command line.

Although the vmalloc error disappears in 3.10, one cannot consider that this
kernel properly supports my Lenovo W520:
- sounds quality is poor (particularly in Skype)
- shutting down properly is impossible.

Running 3.10 RC6 does not show the vmalloc allocation failure like 3.8.
Consequently, the Wifi is working.
However, there is another error from the intel driver:

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
