Title:
13.04 Hangs When nfs Mounts
I have now confirmed that 13.10 does NOT have this problem on the exact
same hardware regardless of NFS mount order. I see a few of the
"Waiting for ..." messages during boot, but it does not hang there as in
the past.

Hi Steve -
I was planning to build a test image of 13.10 within the next few weeks
anyhow. I will check the problem when I do and see if it is resolved
and report back...

If this is the case, you may want to test
Further testing as revealed:
- Other OSs on the failing machine work fine.
Conclusion: It is a problem specific to Ubuntu
- Moving the drive that has the instance of Ubuntu that is failing to
another machine, works fine.
Conclusion: It is sensitive to hardware configuration

I've run into this now on 13.10. I tried adding NEED_IDMAPD=no to
/etc/defaults/nfs-common but the only effect was that I could now
successfully skip mounting, it didn't cause the mount to succeed.

I am running into the same issue here.
System is hanging on boot with the same behaviour, same log output to
/var/log/upstart/statd.log. Also there is no

My solution was to remove the requirement for idmapd in :
/etc/default/nfs-common
change : NEED_IDMAPD=yes into NEED_IDMAPD=no
This will still cause the error but it won't halt on it.

During boot right after I see this:
Starting mount network filesystems
Stopping mount network filesystems
I see this repeated a bunch of times:
Starting Block the mount
Ok. Where do you see the errors about waiting for idmapd and statd?
Does /etc/init/statd.conf exist on your system?
