That was a little quick. Nothing has changed, I still have the same
problem, on an AMD64 Feisty box, every day. The i386 where I'm writing
this doesn't have the problem, though. Do you have any suggestions for
where else to look for clues?

Moreover, in response to that question, I suppose I should emphasize
again that ctrl-right clicking and selecting "Tiny" works fine. Also,
typing in the font name, painting it, and ctrl-right clicking and
choosing "Selection" works just fine.
