I'm closing this report because this is not reproducible and probably
caused by a teporary lack of disk space. Feel free to re-open if you're
able to reproduce it and provide more informations.
Thanks for your time.

I tend to agree with Mathias and tempted to mark this report as invalid.
df -P (or --portability) is not affected by BLOCK_SIZE or BLOCKSIZE
settings.
Just a simple test shows that this setting is ignored with -P (I've just left
the header line for clarity but you can see the effect of BLOCKSIZE

I reopen this bug because I still have this problem with gutsy, if I change "
if LC_ALL=C BLOCKSIZE= df --portability $datadir/. | tail -n 1 | awk '{ exit

I cannot reproduce this bug. The code works as expected, which is to
refuse to start mysql if there are less then 4096 Kbytes of free space
on the partition where /var/lib/mysql is located.
Moreover this fix has been reverted in debian

This has been superseded by an upload to dapper-security. Mathias,
please resync dapper-proposed with that.

Fix sponsored and accepted into dapper-updates. Mathias or Mark, if you
could add a recipe how to reproduce this independently of hardware etc.,
this would be highly appreciated for verification.
Please test the package in dapper-proposed (should be available in a few

Thanks, Mathias, that debdiff looks good. Let's wait with the upload
until we sorted out bug 84209, though.

This looks like an easy fix, and worth for the dapper point release.
